<p>Dieppe, New Brunswick&rsquo;s fourth-largest municipality, is experiencing phenomenal growth and continues to stand out on many levels. Mindful of the social, economic and environmental issues that come with growth, the City has embarked on a process to renew its strategic plan. The aim is to create a clear, inspiring vision of the future that reflects the community in order to set the municipality&rsquo;s priorities for the next five years.</p><p>The municipality held meetings and conducted surveys with community groups, partners and residents in April to give them a say in shaping the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan. The desire was to build a collective vision of where people want to be as a community and to identify the major projects that the City should focus on for the next five years.</p><h2>Purpose of public consultation</h2><p>The findings of the meetings and surveys were incorporated into the workshops and working meetings and helped to define the major directions that forms the foundation of the strategic plan.</p><p>The public was consulted with a view to better understanding the City&rsquo;s identity, strengths, vision, issues, challenges and avenues for improvement.</p><p>The consultation report provides an analysis of the topics that emerged from all the consultation activities and were included in the analyses leading to the development of the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan.</p><h2>Next steps</h2><p>The consultation phase ended in May 2024. There are three more phases in the strategic planning exercise:</p><ul><li>Reflection and development of the strategic plan (May to August 2024)</li><li>Development of an action plan (July to September 2024)</li><li>Completion of both plans (strategic and action) (September and October 2024)</li></ul><p>The City&rsquo;s new strategic plan will help us better prepare to face challenges together and guide future actions in a coherent and responsible manner. It will be presented to City Council for adoption in late October.</p>

2025-2029 Strategic Plan

<p>Dieppe is known for its many recreational offerings, trails and community spirit. The municipality recently adopted a new 10-year recreation master plan. The plan includes recreation, sports, arts and culture, as well as parks and green spaces, and was developed in consultation with the community.</p><p>It is now time to develop the program of activities, events and initiatives to be offered throughout Dieppe. The City&rsquo;s leisure sector is therefore looking for your input. Please take a few moments to go to the idea board and complete the short survey.</p>

Community recreation planning

<p>Outdoor fires in Dieppe have been regulated by a municipal bylaw since 2008, with a view to protecting public health and safeguarding the built environment. Residents generally comply with the bylaw.</p><p>With the health controls regulations in effect due to the pandemic, City Council has received requests from residents to allow outdoor wood fires year-round and to revisit the bylaw prohibiting outdoor fires from November 1 to the third Monday of April.</p><p>Given the community&rsquo;s involvement in the initial development of the bylaw in 2008, City Council wishes to consult with the public before making any changes to the document.</p>

<p>The City of Dieppe is embarking on a process to develop a new active transportation plan and we need your help! Active transportation is essentially about getting around without using a motorized vehicle. It&rsquo;s about using forms of travel powered by the human body. The city&rsquo;s current active transportation plan was developed in 2011 and needs to be overhauled. The new document will guide the city in planning and developing infrastructure and implementing initiatives and programs that encourage the use of human-powered forms of travel such as walking, cycling, in-line skating, wheelchairs, scooters, skateboards and strollers.</p><h2>How can you share your comments and suggestions with the city?</h2><p>There are many options available to you. You can submit ideas, comment on the ideas of others, complete a survey, target a specific location on an interactive map, discuss with others in the forum, or simply send us your questions privately (to which the city will respond). In short, there are many ways to participate, and we also encourage you to come back to the platform for project updates and to answer the question of the week.</p><p>Thank you in advance.
